Developer Ecosystem in 2018 Report: Java is the most popular primary programming languages
JetBrains has just released “The State of Developer Ecosystem in 2018” Report, which includes developer preferences for various programming languages, as well as databases and team tools. In the end, like last year (The State of Developer Ecosystem in 2017), Java was rated as the most popular language, JavaScript is the most commonly used language, and Go is considered the most promising programming language.
As you can see, JavaScript is the most used language, followed by HTML/CSS and Java. Go is the language most people want to try, followed by Kotlin and Python.
“38% of all developers don’t plan to adopt any new programming languages.”
In addition, JetBrains asked respondents to rank the 3 major programming languages by the frequency of use. The results are as follows:
The IDE is the most commonly used tool in developers’ daily work, followed by source code collaboration tools and a lightweight desktop editor. Developers generally like to customize their own work environment for themselves, and only 12% of respondents do not customize their IDE/editor.
