If you use Apple’s iCloud Mail in conjunction with the native iOS Mail app, you may have noticed that after updating to iOS 18.3.2, push notifications for new emails no longer function properly. Instead, you must manually refresh the app to check for new messages.
Numerous users on Reddit have reported experiencing this issue, which did not exist prior to the iOS 18.3.2 update. Previously, new email notifications were reliably pushed to the Mail app and displayed as alerts. Interestingly, this problem appears to be exclusive to iCloud Mail.
From a Reddit user:
“I’m experiencing an issue with iCloud Mail on my iPhone after updating to iOS 18.3.2. New emails are not being pushed to my device, even though all the correct settings are enabled and it had been working fine on 18.3.1. Manually refreshing the Mail app does retrieve new emails, but they do not arrive automatically via push.
Given this issue appears to be tied to the iOS 18.3.2 update, I assume it’s a bug. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?”
Users employing Outlook or Gmail with the iOS Mail app continue to receive push notifications as expected, both within the app and in the Notification Center.
As for the iCloud Mail push notification issue, it seems to persist even in the iOS 18.4 beta. This suggests that a lingering bug is responsible, and Apple may need to address it through a server-side fix to restore normal functionality.
