Korea will ban the opening of virtual currency anonymous accounts
The South Korean government said in a statement on December 28 that it will implement additional measures to regulate speculation in bitcoin transactions. These include the ban on the opening of anonymous accounts and the closure of virtual currency exchanges at the request of the Ministry of Justice.
The statement said: “The government has repeatedly warned that the virtual currency cannot be used as real money, may result in excessive volatility caused high losses.” The statement also mentioned that most of the Korean exchange virtual currency prices higher than other countries exchange a lot of.
Earlier on December 13, South Korea officially announced measures to curb the specter of cryptocurrencies, including prohibiting financial institutions from holding cryptocurrencies and investing in cryptocurrencies and seeking to prevent minors and non-residents from conducting encrypted currency transactions. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Ministry of Finance will consider the possibility of taxing cryptocurrencies.
