HackerRank surveyed 39,441 developers, asking employers and developer about programming language they want. The survey results show that employers want to learn programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, Python, C ++, and C, while the developers want to learn is Python, Go and Kotlin.

There is basically no gap between demand and supply, and most developers have language skills that meet the requirements of employers. HackerRank also queried about which languages developers were planning to learn next. The top languages developers said they will learn were—in order—Go, Python, Scala, Kotlin, and Ruby.
HackerRank noted that language preference varies by industry. The financial industry prefers Java, while C is the rule of the hardware industry. 37% of employers want React skills, but only 19% percent of developers having them.
