The “AI Overviews” feature, previously implemented in Google Search, will soon be extended to the YouTube platform, enabling users to leverage the Gemini AI service to extract video summaries, highlight key moments, and more.
At present, Google is offering the “AI Overviews” feature exclusively to a limited group of YouTube Premium subscribers within the United States. The functionality is currently confined to English-language queries and allows for the automatic extraction of notable video segments.
According to Google’s description, this feature is designed to help users quickly locate specific content within videos—for instance, identifying a particular product style showcased in a video or pinpointing notable landmarks mentioned in a travel guide.
Much like the “AI Overviews” deployed in Google Search, the YouTube iteration will also operate on Gemini’s artificial intelligence technology. However, it remains unclear whether this feature will eventually be made available to all YouTube users or remain exclusive to Premium subscribers.
In its recently released financial report, Google revealed that monthly users of the “AI Overviews” feature have already reached 1.5 billion. It is anticipated that further integration with YouTube will significantly expand its user base.
