Ubuntu 17.10 replace the LightDM login manager with the GNOME Display Manager (GDM)
Ddos In a recent report, Canonical’s Will Cooke said the Ubuntu Desktop team is considering replacing the LightDM logon manager with GDM (GNOME Display Manager) in the upcoming Ubuntu 17.10 release. Earlier this week there have been rumors that Ubuntu 17.10 will use GNOME GDM display manager. Especially now, by default, the ISO images that are built on a daily basis use GNOME desktop environments instead of Unity by default. Now, Canonical officially confirmed that they had no time to let LightDM work with GNOME.
“We decided to switch to GNDM Display Manager (GDM) instead of LightDM,” said Canonical. “We plan to use LightDM, and according to our survey, we need to invest a lot of time to make everything work, but We have not used that much time. ”
Canonical decided to discontinue the development of its internal use of the Unity user interface and replace it with the Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) operating system using the more popular GNOME desktop environment.
