The AI-driven search company Perplexity AI has announced a partnership with PayPal to expand access to its Comet browser, offering U.S. and select international PayPal and Venmo users complimentary access to a $200 Perplexity Pro subscription.
This promotion is part of PayPal’s newly launched Subscription Hub, a feature within the PayPal app that allows users to manage all recurring payments in one place. Upon entering the hub, users will see promotional banners for Perplexity Pro.
As an added incentive, PayPal is granting an extra $50 credit to users who link three recurring payments through the platform. Venmo users are also eligible, with access to a 12-month Perplexity Pro membership directly through the Venmo app. The promotion will run until the end of the year.
It is important to note that the complimentary Perplexity Pro subscription will automatically renew via PayPal next year, so users concerned about unintentional charges are advised to disable auto-renewal after redeeming the offer.
The Comet browser, developed by Perplexity AI, is designed to integrate artificial intelligence directly into the browsing experience. It enables users to interact with an AI sidebar that can ask contextual questions, summarize content, and even take actions on their behalf based on what appears on the screen.
Perplexity AI has been ambitious in its expansion strategy. Earlier this year, the company expressed interest in acquiring Google Chrome for $34.5 billion. However, a U.S. district court ruled this week that Google will not be required to divest Chrome, effectively ending Perplexity’s pursuit of the world’s most widely used browser.
