At its autumn keynote, Apple unveiled the new AirPods Pro 3, touting enhanced active noise cancellation, real-time multilingual translation, and integrated heart-rate monitoring. The design has also been refined, with interchangeable ear tips expanded to five sizes to better accommodate a wider range of ear shapes.
Compared with the AirPods Pro 2, Apple claims the AirPods Pro 3 deliver twice the level of active noise cancellation, and up to four times that of the original model.
Beyond improved noise suppression, the standout addition is multilingual real-time translation, supporting languages such as English, Spanish, and French. Activated by pressing both stems simultaneously—while automatically lowering ambient sound and the other speaker’s voice—the feature is powered by Apple Intelligence. It detects the spoken language, translates it into the user’s preferred language, and, when the user responds, displays the translated output on the paired iPhone, enabling seamless communication across languages.
Another major innovation is the inclusion of heart-rate monitoring, a capability previously reserved for the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2. This allows users without an Apple Watch to track heart rate through Apple Health, Apple Fitness+, or any third-party apps supporting Apple’s heart-rate measurement API.
Additional refinements stem from research analyzing over 100,000 hours of listening behavior. The ear tips have been upgraded from traditional silicone to a hybrid foam material, with sizing expanded from three to five options for improved fit and comfort.
The AirPods Pro 3 also boast IP57-rated water and dust resistance and significantly improved battery life—8 hours with active noise cancellation enabled, or up to 10 hours with hearing-assist features active. Built-in hearing protection further enhances long-term usability.
The AirPods Pro 3 are available for preorder now, with general sales beginning September 19. Pricing is set at $249 USD, though local availability may come slightly later.
