In iOS 26, Apple has introduced a new power mode called Adaptive Power, designed to apply different energy-saving strategies depending on usage scenarios, with the ultimate goal of extending the iPhone’s battery life.
Adaptive Power serves as a gentler alternative to Low Power Mode. When Low Power Mode is enabled, iPhone performance is noticeably reduced in exchange for greater power savings and longer endurance. By contrast, Adaptive Power has a lighter impact on performance, though the energy savings are correspondingly more modest.
This new mode is also automatically managed. When the system detects that a user’s battery consumption is significantly higher than usual, it activates Adaptive Power. At that point, the screen brightness is reduced, and certain app activities may take longer to complete due to performance throttling.

In iOS 26 Beta 7, Apple has added a notification feature for Adaptive Power Mode. Previously, the mode would activate silently in the background whenever necessary, leaving users unaware. With the new update, a notification now appears in the Notification Center when Adaptive Power is triggered, informing users that the feature is active and that system performance may be slightly reduced to extend battery life.
Users can also customize this behavior in the Battery settings, enabling or disabling notifications to avoid being disturbed by frequent alerts during intensive iPhone usage—allowing Adaptive Power to operate quietly in the background if preferred.
Configuration path: Settings → Battery → Power Mode → Adaptive Power Notifications. Here, users can choose whether to enable Adaptive Power and whether to receive notifications when it activates.
