Revamped "Start" Menu Interface
Microsoft has recently released the routine cumulative updates for June 2025 (2025-06) across all supported operating systems and software. These updates primarily address a range of known security vulnerabilities and bugs, while occasionally introducing new features or enhancing existing ones.
However, users running Windows 11 version 24H2 may currently be unable to detect the update. Shortly after its release, Microsoft identified compatibility issues within the update, prompting the company to withdraw it for further revision.
The revised KB5060842 update, now corrected for compatibility errors, has been reissued. Nonetheless, in the interest of caution, Microsoft is throttling its rollout—meaning some users may find no updates available when checking.
Microsoft stated in its advisory:
“We identified a problem that affects a small number of devices. This update [KB5060842] is being gradually rolled out to devices running Windows 11, version 24H2. We’ve identified a compatibility issue affecting a limited set of these devices.”
Since Microsoft disbanded its Windows NT testing team long ago, update-related issues have become relatively commonplace. However, it is unprecedented for the company to restrict the rollout of a security update—these are typically marked as critical or urgent and pushed immediately to prevent exploitation.
For users eager to apply the update, the MSU-format patch can be downloaded and installed manually, bypassing the wait for Microsoft’s automatic rollout. Still, even security updates can sometimes introduce unforeseen issues, so the decision to install immediately ultimately rests with the user.
