CentOS Releases New Patch to Fixes Meltdown & Specter Vulnerabilities

Ddos January 19, 2018 1 min read

In response to the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities that hit the market a few days ago, the CentOS development team is today again releasing fixer code updates for CentOS Linux 7/6 system users. CentOS 7/6 users have been given kernel and processor code updates two weeks ago, but during the ensuing testing, Red Hat discovered that these processor code firmware developed by Intel and AMD could cause hardware problems.

Subsequently, Red Hat on January 17 this year, January 3 version based on the adjustment and optimization, fixes these hardware problems. Red Hat highly recommends that all users install the update as soon as possible to avoid being subjected to malware tools. While CentOS is based on the Red Hat system distribution, the CentOS released an update today as soon as an upstream version was released.

It is strongly recommended that all 32-bit and 64-bit CentOS Linux 6 systems be installed with microcode_ctl-1.17-25.4.el6_9.i686.rpm / microcode_ctl-1.17-25.4.el6_9.x86_64.rpm updated and CentOS Linux 7 should be installed with microcode_ctl-2.1-22.5 as soon as possible. el7_4.x86_64.rpm. After completing the processor code update, the user needs to restart the computer.
