Recently, Anthropic reintroduced the Claude Fable 5 model. However, this iteration offers a brief complimentary window for paid subscribers. Specifically, users can access this model within their Claude Pro or Max subscription quotas. Originally, this temporary arrangement was approaching its conclusion quickly. The availability was scheduled to end on July 7 at 14:59. After this deadline, developers would need to purchase additional credits for continued usage.
However, many developers urged Anthropic to prolong this inclusive access. Consequently, Anthropic officially announced an extension for Claude Fable 5 until July 12. Currently, it remains uncertain whether further extensions will occur beyond this revised date. Nevertheless, several developers expressed frustration regarding the delayed notification. Anticipating the original expiration, many had already exhausted their available quotas. Now, they must simply wait helplessly.
Maximum 50% Utilization Within Subscription Plans
Initially, Anthropic set the expiration for July 7 at 23:59 PDT. They have now extended this deadline to July 12 PDT. During this extended timeframe, developers can continue leveraging Claude Fable 5 via their subscriptions.
Regarding usage limits, the maximum threshold remains at 50%. Developers can allocate a maximum of 50% of their total subscription quota to this model. Upon reaching this ceiling, access immediately ceases. Users must then temporarily switch to alternative models. They can resume using Fable 5 once their weekly quota resets.
Subsequent Transition to Usage Credits
According to prior announcements, Claude Fable 5 will transition exclusively to Usage Credits. This change occurs immediately after the complimentary window concludes. Consequently, existing subscribers of Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise tiers will lose direct inclusion. Instead, they must purchase additional credits to sustain access.
Utilizing these credits perfectly mirrors the standard API pricing structure. Developers can utilize their standard subscription quotas first. Then, they can seamlessly transition to purchased credits upon exhaustion. Since Fable 5 will solely operate on a credit basis, it functions identically to calling the model directly through the API platform.

- Claude Fable 5 One Million Input Tokens (Cache Miss): $10.00
- Claude Fable 5 Five-Minute Cache Write: $12.50
- Claude Fable 5 One-Hour Cache Write: $20.00
- Claude Fable 5 One Million Input Tokens (Cache Hit / Refresh): $1.00
- Claude Fable 5 One Million Output Tokens: $50.00
