The Mozilla Foundation has recently released Mozilla Firefox v141.0, a minor update that introduces only a few new features. While the official release notes have yet to be published, several enhancements can be gleaned from the beta version.
Among the new additions is the integration of a built-in artificial intelligence system that assists users in organizing tabs and naming tab groups. When users wish to consolidate multiple open tabs into a group, the AI now intelligently suggests appropriate group names.
Notably, this AI system operates entirely on the local device, without transmitting any data to external servers—thereby preserving user privacy. The feature is currently being rolled out incrementally, so some users may not yet see AI-generated group name suggestions.
A subtle but thoughtful improvement has been made for those who utilize vertical tabs: users can now click and drag the horizontal divider at the bottom of the vertical tab pane, allowing for dynamic adjustment of space between the tab section and the lower toolbar—preventing display issues when content overflows.
The Linux version of Firefox brings notable memory optimizations. The browser now consumes less RAM, reducing overall resource usage and power consumption. Moreover, after updating the application via package manager, a restart is no longer required to continue using the browser.
On Windows, the foundation has introduced support for WebGPU, which enables the browser to directly access and accelerate graphics resources via the system’s GPU. This is particularly beneficial for applications such as web-based games, which can see significant performance gains through WebGPU.
Alongside this release, Mozilla has also launched Firefox 140.1 ESR and Firefox 128.13 ESR, the latest updates to its Extended Support Release (ESR) channels. These versions provide long-term users with critical bug fixes and performance enhancements.
