This novel “media watermark” toggle setting will progressively launch within the Gemini service and the Google Flow video editor over the coming days. Although users can finally eliminate the conspicuous star icon from their frames, this does not imply that AI-generated content will become untraceable. This option to remove visible watermarks will launch worldwide, excluding specific jurisdictions where “explicit legal regulations mandate retention.” For instance, the European Union recently enacted stringent AI transparency regulations. These rules require visible watermarks on any realistic deepfake content. Similarly, South Korea implemented comparable regulations earlier this year.
