Since 2021, Google has gradually introduced tools that allow users to exert greater control over the presence of their personal information in search results. More recently, the company has made it even more intuitive for users to verify whether their personal data has been successfully removed from search results.
In the past, once a user’s personal information was indexed by Google’s search engine, the removal process typically required submitting a formal request and waiting for a certain period before the data was no longer visible. However, in recent years, Google has implemented adjustments that enable users to review the visibility of their personal data within search results via their personal account management tools, as well as providing an online request option for removal.
With this latest update, Google has further streamlined the process for users seeking to remove their personal information from the “Results About You” section in search. Users can now submit removal requests directly from search result listings by clicking on the “⋮” icon behind each entry, significantly reducing the number of steps required.
If a user removes content directly from a specific website or modifies the information displayed, they can also request a re-crawl of the page via the “Results About You” section to ensure that Google’s search index reflects the updated content accordingly.
At present, this feature is not yet available in all regions—for instance, it has yet to be rolled out in certain Southeast Asian countries. However, it is expected that Google will gradually extend availability to additional countries and regions in the near future.
