In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed that Apple still has two undisclosed features planned for its iOS 26 operating system, both of which are expected to debut in subsequent updates later this year.
One of these features involves real-time accent translation via AirPods, while the other enables automatic synchronization of public Wi-Fi login credentials across Apple devices. Though both features were rumored ahead of WWDC 2025, they were notably absent from the keynote presentation.
According to reports, the forthcoming AirPods translation feature will empower users to engage in real-time conversations with speakers of foreign languages. Translations will be delivered directly through AirPods, making the feature ideal for travel, business interactions, and daily communication. This functionality is expected to be deeply integrated with iOS 26’s native translation capabilities, positioning AirPods as a powerful tool for seamless multilingual dialogue.
During WWDC 2025, Apple showcased iOS 26’s redesigned translation interface and UI enhancements. However, the AirPods translation feature likely requires more advanced voice processing and seamless device integration, necessitating further refinement. It is anticipated to launch with the iOS 26.1 or iOS 26.2 update, possibly in October or December of this year.
The second upcoming feature is the automatic synchronization of credentials for captive Wi-Fi networks—those requiring additional login steps, such as those found in cafes or hotels. Previously, users had to manually log in on each individual device. With this enhancement, once a user logs in on one Apple device, all other devices signed into the same Apple ID will automatically sync and connect, significantly simplifying the connectivity experience.
Gurman further noted that Apple’s decision to withhold announcements of features not yet ready for release marks a strategic pivot from previous years. This change likely stems from past instances where prematurely announced features faced months-long delays. To avoid repeating this, Apple is now focusing on unveiling only those features that are imminently deliverable, with more advanced capabilities to be introduced progressively through system updates.
