MediaTek has officially unveiled its new flagship computing platform, the Dimensity 9500, built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm (N3P) process. Featuring an all-big-core CPU architecture paired with a dual-NPU AI computing engine, the Dimensity 9500 marks the beginning of a new era in flagship mobile computing. The first wave of smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9500 is expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The design philosophy of the Dimensity 9500 centers on comprehensive enhancements in performance, energy efficiency, and AI-driven user experiences. It introduces Arm’s recently announced Lumex compute subsystem, adopting a CPU design based on the Armv9.3 instruction set and the new SME2 extended matrix computation instructions.
Its CPU configuration embraces a next-generation all-big-core design: one C1-Ultra super-core clocked at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium super-cores at 3.50GHz, and four C1-Pro performance cores at 2.70GHz. The C1-Ultra features double the L1 cache and a 33% increase in L3 cache, while the adoption of a four-channel UFS 4.1 storage architecture doubles read/write speeds and improves large language model loading speeds by 40%.
In terms of raw performance, the Dimensity 9500 boasts a 32% improvement in single-core performance and a 17% increase in multi-core performance over its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400. Power efficiency also takes a significant leap: multi-core power consumption is reduced by 37%, and at equivalent performance levels, the super-core consumes 55% less power. Dynamic voltage adjustment technology contributes an additional 10% power savings, lowering peak power consumption by 42% compared to the 9400.
Laboratory benchmarks confirm these gains: GeekBench V6.4 scores record 4007 for single-core and 11216 for multi-core, compared to the 9400’s 3040 and 9600. Object detection performance has improved by 50%, while power draw during codec model execution has dropped by as much as 50%.
On the graphics front, the Dimensity 9500 debuts the Mali G1-Ultra GPU, delivering a 33% performance uplift and 42% lower power consumption compared to the Immortalis-G925 GPU in the Dimensity 9400. Ray tracing performance surges by an astonishing 119%. In 3DMark’s Solar Bay Extreme test, the Dimensity 9500 scores 2573, more than doubling the 9400’s 1173.
It also introduces Dynamic Cache technology and MediaTek’s Frame Rate Converter 3.0, while supporting Unreal Engine 5.6 MegaLights and Unreal Engine 5.5 Nanite—bringing console-grade AAA gaming visuals and fluidity to mobile devices.
AI processing capabilities have been thoroughly reimagined. The Dimensity 9500 integrates the new dual NPU 990 processors, one of which employs a unified memory design to accelerate access for tasks such as large language models, boosting AI computing efficiency by 111% while cutting power consumption by 56% compared to the 9400. The dual-NPU approach allows one processor to sustain resident AI functions, enabling instant responsiveness to user commands and supporting seamless agentic AI applications such as smart summarization and real-time voice interaction.
Peak AI performance rises by 111%, supporting 4K image generation and multimodal understanding, powered by the Generative AI Engine 2.0 with BitNet 1.58-bit model support. This reduces memory requirements while enhancing efficiency, ensuring always-on AI functionality.
For imaging, the Dimensity 9500 integrates the Imagiq 1190 ISP and MediaTek’s RAW domain processing engine, enabling professional-grade 200MP photography without post-processing. It is the first to support 4K 120FPS stabilized video recording and 4K 60FPS cinematic portrait mode, empowering creators to produce high-quality video directly from their smartphones.
Its MiraVision display technology intelligently adapts screen performance based on ambient lighting, panel characteristics, and real-time content. This ensures outdoor readability under extreme brightness, as well as eye-friendly clarity at ultra-low 1-nit conditions.
Connectivity has been refined with AI network selection, automatic base station switching, AI-driven power scheduling, and high-speed Wi-Fi acceleration. Combined with Bluetooth audio compensation, the Dimensity 9500 guarantees low-latency, high-stability performance across streaming, gaming, and communications.
The Dimensity 9500 is not merely MediaTek’s latest flagship mobile computing chip—it represents the company’s definitive response to the AI era. From hardware performance to software algorithms and ecosystem collaborations, it elevates the entire on-device intelligence experience, infusing upcoming Android flagships with formidable competitiveness.
MediaTek confirmed that the first smartphones featuring the Dimensity 9500 will debut in the fourth quarter of 2025, with vivo expected to lead the rollout through its flagship X300 series, set to be unveiled in October.
