Office 365 is being rewritten with JavaScript

Sean Larkin, a Microsoft Technology Project Manager (TPM), revealed on Twitter that Office 365 is being rewritten with JavaScript. Office 365 is Microsoft’s subscription-based office software suite. Larkin published this message in response to claims that scripting languages cannot be used to develop office software.

He did not disclose many details, but said that they are not Electron applications, but compiled to native code, the same code base composed to different platforms, including Web, Android, iOS, MacOS, UWP and WIN32, of which only WIN32 is Electron applications.
