PayPal has announced a strategic partnership with hotel payment service provider Selfbook, enabling users to search for and book accommodations directly within the PayPal app. Through this integration, users can access exclusive discounts and seamlessly complete their reservations using PayPal at checkout.
This collaboration transforms PayPal from a mere payment processor into a multifaceted travel commerce platform. With features like “buy now, pay later” already embedded in the service, the potential addition of flight and transportation booking could position PayPal as a comprehensive, one-stop travel solution.
According to PayPal, the partnership has already yielded a significant outcome—an 84% increase in hotel bookings paid through its platform. While it remains unclear whether Selfbook has made its full roster of partner hotels available to PayPal, the arrangement clearly signals a new trajectory in PayPal’s commercial evolution.
In addition to this collaboration, Selfbook previously partnered with Perplexity.ai, allowing users to search and book hotels through conversational interactions with the AI chatbot. Hotel payments through PayPal are now supported within this interface as well.
Selfbook expressed its intent to streamline the hotel reservation and payment experience, aiming to consolidate what was traditionally a fragmented, multi-step process into a seamless, unified journey.
