One UI 7, based on Android 15, represents one of Samsung’s most significant updates in recent years. Deeply integrated with advanced AI capabilities, One UI 7 is designed to enhance user efficiency and enable unique features and operations. Samsung has attached great importance to its release.
However, despite this emphasis, the rollout has encountered a critical setback—not in its AI functions, but in its core usability. Several users reported that after updating to One UI 7, their devices became intermittently or entirely unresponsive to unlocking attempts. In some cases, the phones could be unlocked temporarily, only to encounter the issue again.
In response, Samsung has suspended the global rollout of One UI 7 across all Galaxy devices—a likely precautionary measure to prevent widespread disruptions related to the lockscreen malfunction.
Samsung has effectively acknowledged the change in its update schedule, stating that the One UI 7 release timeline is being revised and that a new launch date will be announced shortly.
Notably, One UI 7 is being released in stages, with different models receiving the update on a staggered schedule. The initial rollout began on April 7 for flagship devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Unlocking issues have so far been confirmed primarily on the Galaxy S24 models, with no similar reports from other devices at this time.
