On October 29, 2024, the organization issued a notification letter detailing unauthorized access to an employee’s email account. The breach occurred on May 23, 2024, with potential access to sensitive data spanning from May 17 to May 23. Upon discovery, U.S. Soccer promptly secured the account and initiated a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity specialists.

The investigation, concluded on August 7, 2024, confirmed that the compromised email account contained limited personal data, including names and Social Security numbers. U.S. Soccer is now in the process of notifying affected individuals and offering them a complimentary 12-month subscription to a credit monitoring service.

U.S. Soccer has also provided guidance to individuals on mitigating potential risks, emphasizing the importance of:
