Hardware indicator for volume shown at the top center
In the latest releases of Windows 11βBuild 26200.5661 (Dev Channel) and Build 26120.4452 (Beta Channel)βMicrosoft has introduced an enhancement to the system indicator bar’s positioning, which, by default, appears at the center of the bottom edge of the screen.
In these new builds, users are now granted the option to reposition the indicator bar to the top-center of the display. This adjustment offers a clear advantage: the indicators become more prominent and accessible, eliminating the need for users to lower their gaze or focus on the screenβs lower margin.
The system indicator bar encompasses visual cues such as volume and brightness adjustments. When these indicators appear, users can also drag them with the mouse for swift, intuitive control.
Additional positioning options now include the top-left corner of the screen. As such, users may choose between three placement settings: bottom-center (default), top-center, and top-left.
This new setting can be found under Settings > System > Notifications > Indicator from keyboard action. The feature is expected to roll out to the stable release of Windows 11 within the next two to three months, so users on the stable channel are advised to await its arrival with patience.
