Sears/Delta data breach: 100,000 of customers credit card information may be leaked
Ddos According to CNN reports, on April 4, local time, Delta and Sears said that the latest exposure of data leakage may have revealed hundreds of thousands of customers’ credit card information. It was learned that the data breach was first exposed by Reuters and that it took place at a company that served both Delta and Sears online chat platforms –[24]7
From September 27 to October 12 last year, the company suffered a malicious software attack, but [24]7 did not notify Sears and Delta until mid-March this year. Consumers who had traded on Sears or Delta online during this period may have had their credit card information leaked. Sears Holding Corp (SHLD)said that data from “less than 100,000” customers might have been exposed.
Currently, federal law enforcement agencies, banks, and IT security companies are investigating this security incident. Sears and Delta have opened customer channels for the event. The former opened a customer inquiry hotline and the latter established a dedicated answering page delta.com/response.
Delta said in a statement that “At this point, even though only a small subset of our customers would have been exposed, we cannot say definitively whether any of our customers’ information was actually accessed or subsequently compromised.”
[24] 7 issued a statement saying: “We are confident that the platform is secure, and we are working diligently with our clients to determine if any of their customer information was accessed.“
