Ddos The OneNote desktop version that many Windows users still use today – OneNote 2016 will no longer be Microsoft’s key development product. Microsoft announced that Office 2019 will be released this year, the office suite will no longer pre-install this traditional application, in the future will be promoted as UWP “OneNote for Windows 10” applications.
That is not to say that OneNote 2016 ended. Microsoft will still provide downloads of this application and will continue to support it until October 2025. However, Microsoft will focus on OneNote for Windows 10 in its future development. It is expected that many heavy functions will be launched this summer.

OneNote project manager William Devereux said: “OneNote 2016 is optionally available for anyone with Office 365 or Office 2019, but it will no longer be installed by default. If you currently use OneNote 2016, you won’t notice any changes when you update to Office 2019. We’ll continue to offer support, bug fixes, and security updates for OneNote 2016 for the duration of the Office 2016 support lifecycle, which runs through October 2020 for mainstream support and October 2025 for extended support.”
However, for OneNote 2016 users, it is worthwhile that Microsoft will not force users to switch to OneNote for Windows 10 applications, and the company also promised to provide some updates for the desktop version this summer, bring some new features.
The OneNote UWP app allows users to insert and search tags, and instantly view real-time previews of Office files directly in Notepad. All Class Notebook features currently available in OneNote 2016 will be integrated into UWP apps.
