Following Google’s release of Gemini 3 Pro, AI unicorn Anthropic has responded in kind, formally unveiling the latest iteration of its flagship model — Opus 4.5.
This update is squarely aimed at workplace productivity, with a particular emphasis on deep integration with Microsoft Excel. Anthropic highlights that the new system delivers state-of-the-art performance in coding, computer-use tasks, and a wide range of office workflows.
One of the most notable enhancements is the full rollout of Claude for Excel. This feature embeds the chatbot directly into Excel’s sidebar and is now available to all Max, Team, and Enterprise plan users.
Functionally, it supports pivot tables, chart creation, and built-in file uploads. According to Anthropic, early testers reported a 20% increase in accuracy and a 15% improvement in efficiency when using the tool in internal evaluations.
To address the notorious “goldfish memory” problem common among AI chatbots, Anthropic has introduced a new feature called Infinite Chat.
For paying users, Claude will no longer be constrained by traditional context-window limits, maintaining coherent memory across long conversations and multiple documents — one of the most frequently requested capabilities.
Additionally, the Claude for Chrome browser extension is now available to all Max-tier users.
In terms of performance, Opus 4.5 brings meaningful improvements to agentic workflows, with stronger self-correction abilities throughout complex task sequences.
More importantly, Anthropic asserts that Opus 4.5 is its safest model to date. According to the company’s internal evaluations, the model outperforms even Google’s Gemini 3 Pro in resisting prompt-injection attacks.
Opus 4.5 is now available across all of Anthropic’s apps and APIs. For developers, API pricing begins at $5 per million tokens.
