Leading artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has recently unveiled the Claude 4.1 series—an enhanced iteration of its Claude 4 models introduced in May. This latest release demonstrates notable improvements in agent-based tasks, real-world programming development, and complex reasoning, surpassing its predecessor in both precision and performance.
According to Anthropic, Claude Opus 4.1 serves as a direct replacement for Opus 4, offering superior capabilities in programming and agent-related operations. The model addresses intricate, multi-step challenges with heightened rigor and meticulous attention to detail.
Developers can now access Claude Opus 4.1 at the same price as the previous Claude subscription tiers, including Claude Code, either through direct subscription or via API. Anthropic encourages users to transition to Claude Opus 4.1 to take full advantage of its enhanced capabilities at no additional cost.

Notably, GitHub has announced that Claude Opus 4.1 is now available as part of its Copilot for Enterprise and Copilot Pro+ subscriptions. Developers can select this model within GitHub Copilot Chat, Visual Studio Code, and GitHub Mobile.
It is important to note that Claude Opus 4.1 will only be available in query-based mode. The previous version, Claude Opus 4, will be deprecated in 15 days. GitHub also highlighted that Opus 4.1 offers significant improvements in multi-file code refactoring compared to its predecessor.
Looking ahead, Anthropic has teased more substantial advancements to its AI models in the coming weeks. With OpenAI preparing to unveil GPT-5, the question now turns to whether Google will also introduce an updated version of its Gemini model.
