TL;DR
The Apache Software Foundation shipped new security fixes on November 2, 2026. The updates patch eight serious Apache security vulnerabilities across three core projects. These advisories address flaws in Apache Syncope, Apache Fineract, and Apache Arrow. The most dangerous flaw is CVE-2026-64618. It holds a critical 9.8 CVSS score. It lets remote attackers run SQL injection attacks without login credentials. Therefore, system admins must install the patches right away. They must protect their systems from harm.

Why It Matters
Apache tools run in major banks, data systems, and identity networks worldwide. Industry data shows that thousands of firms rely on these tools daily. For example, banks use Apache Fineract for digital finance tasks. In addition, teams use Apache Arrow to process large data sets in memory. Many firms also use Apache Syncope to manage user access. Flaws in these tools put private user files and financial data at risk. As a result, attackers can steal bank records and modify key data.
Fortunately, project maintainers confirmed that no active exploitation in the wild has occurred. Furthermore, researchers have released no public proof-of-concept exploit code for these issues.
How the Attack Works
The advisories cover SQL injection bugs, sandbox escapes, and memory flaws.
SQL Injection in Apache Fineract
First, Apache Fineract fixed two critical SQL injection bugs. The advisory notes: “The existing regex-based input validation can be bypassed, allowing time-based blind SQL injection by any authenticated user with read access to centers or to the targeted datatable.” In addition, CVE-2026-64618 allows bad actors to inject SQL commands. Attackers use the advanced search API endpoint to run these commands.
Sandbox Escape and Privileges in Apache Syncope
Second, Apache Syncope addressed five flaws in identity components. One flaw, CVE-2026-113687, allows sandbox escapes. The advisory explains: “An administrator with adequate entitlements for Implementations can create a malicious Groovy class running untrusted code on a separate Thread, thus bypassing the Groovy security sandbox.” Meanwhile, CVE-2026-114364 permits stacked SQL injection queries. Other bugs enable unauthorized realm tree moves and process execution flaws. Consequently, bad actors can bypass access controls on the server.
Out-of-Bounds Read in Apache Arrow Rust
Finally, Apache Arrow Rust resolved CVE-2026-111959. The advisory states: “Improper validation of RunEndEncoded arrays in the ArrayData interface can allow reading data beyond the bounds of the child values array.” This out-of-bounds read flaw leaks memory contents during array processing.
Affected Versions
These Apache security vulnerabilities affect specific version branches. Apache Fineract flaws impact versions up to 1.15.0. Syncope bugs affect versions 3.0.0-M0 through 3.0.16, 4.0.0-M0 through 4.0.8, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.3. Arrow Rust impacts versions 33.0.0 through 60.0.0.
Patch and Mitigation Steps
Maintainers released software updates for all three projects. Banking teams should visit the official Apache Fineract download page to install version 1.16.1. Identity admins should access the Apache Syncope download portal to upgrade to version 4.0.9 or 4.1.4. In turn, Rust developers should review the Apache Arrow release notice. They should update the arrow crate to version 60.1.0 today.
