According to the latest report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple and Google are set to finalize an agreement this week that will bring Google’s Gemini AI into Siri, upgrading Apple’s voice assistant with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Under the arrangement, Apple will evaluate and test Google’s AI models for integration.
Since June 2024, Apple has been exploring a potential partnership with Google to integrate Gemini AI. When Apple announced the integration of Apple Intelligence with ChatGPT, the company noted that it would also consider Gemini as an optional alternative in the future.
Previous reports suggested that Apple was weighing Gemini AI as a possible foundation for an AI-enhanced Siri. At the time, however, Apple was still experimenting with its own in-house models, alongside ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude, and had yet to reach a decision.
It now appears that Siri will soon be powered jointly by Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini AI, offering users more intelligent responses and the ability to perform complex tasks—far surpassing Siri’s current limitations of handling only basic queries and commands.
Gurman’s report further reveals that Apple is continuing work on an AI-powered search product known as World Knowledge Answers, designed to support web search and expected to launch next year.
He also speculates that Apple may choose to integrate Google Gemini AI into this upcoming search tool, though he emphasizes that this remains conjecture at present, with no confirmed internal details from Apple.
