Apple has announced a landmark five-year exclusive broadcasting agreement with Formula 1’s parent company, Liberty Media, granting Apple TV the sole rights to stream all F1 races in the United States beginning with the 2026 season. This partnership is set to redefine the viewing experience for American motorsport enthusiasts.
Under the terms of the agreement, subscribers to the newly rebranded Apple TV service (formerly known as Apple TV+) will gain full access to every Grand Prix, practice session, qualifying round, and sprint race. Non-subscribers, meanwhile, will be able to stream select highlight events for free within the Apple TV app, with practice sessions available to all viewers at no cost.
Notably, the existing F1 TV Pro service (previously priced at $130 per year) will become a complimentary benefit for Apple TV subscribers in the United States. Users who link their F1 TV and Apple TV accounts will unlock advanced features such as multi-angle viewing, driver onboard cameras, team radio communications, real-time telemetry, and tire usage analytics—alongside live coverage of F2, F3, F1 Academy, and the Porsche Supercup series.
Through the Apple Sports app, fans will receive live updates on qualifying, sprint, and Grand Prix sessions, complete with real-time leaderboards tracking both driver and constructor standings, as well as home screen widgets and lock screen live activities on iPhone. F1-related coverage will also be deeply integrated across Apple’s ecosystem, including Apple News, Apple Music, Apple Maps, and Fitness+.
The deal further expands Apple’s growing footprint in sports broadcasting, following its long-term exclusive partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS). However, reports suggest the company’s collaboration with Major League Baseball (MLB) may soon come to an end.
According to industry sources from July, Apple secured the rights by offering $120–150 million per year, surpassing ESPN’s $90 million annual bid. Analysts view this move as a natural extension of Apple’s successful Formula 1-themed film project, reflecting the company’s deepening commitment to motorsport content.
Apple stated that additional details regarding production plans, feature enhancements, and fan engagement experiences will be revealed ahead of the 2026 season opener in Australia. Beyond signaling Apple’s continued expansion into the world of sports entertainment, this partnership promises to deliver a transformative digital experience for Formula 1 fans across the United States.
