At WWDC 2025, Apple revealed that Xcode for developers can already achieve direct integration with ChatGPT, while also supporting other AI models through APIs. However, it appears that Xcode will soon feature native integration with Claude.
In the newly released Xcode 26 Beta 7, 9to5Mac discovered repeated references to built-in support for Anthropic accounts within its new intelligent features, with specific mentions of Claude Sonnet 4.0 and Claude Opus 4 models.
This suggests that although ChatGPT remains the only model directly integrated into Xcode at present, the underlying infrastructure for Anthropic accounts is already in place. Therefore, Xcode is expected to integrate Claude natively, eliminating the need to rely solely on APIs. Developers can already invoke Claude models through API calls, but with native integration, they will be able to log in directly with their Anthropic accounts to use the Claude suite. Those with paid subscriptions may also be able to access their existing quotas seamlessly.
Back in May, Bloomberg reported that Apple had been internally testing a Claude-based version of Xcode, though the details of Apple’s arrangement with Anthropic remain undisclosed. Still, for developers, native integration promises a smoother, more seamless experience.
Furthermore, according to server configuration files reviewed by 9to5Mac, Apple also plans to integrate Claude into Siri and its system-wide writing tools as an alternative to ChatGPT. As of now, there has been no word of any collaboration between Apple and Google, leaving it uncertain when, if ever, Gemini support might be introduced.
