TL;DR
Dell Technologies released security advisory DSA-2026-405 to address four cross-site scripting (XSS) flaws in Dell Wyse Management Suite. The most severe bug carries a critical 9.0 CVSS score and allows script injection. Administrators must apply the latest software patch immediately to protect their thin client environments.
Why It Matters
Dell Wyse Management Suite (WMS) centrally configures, monitors, and manages enterprise Dell thin clients. While exact global deployment counts are not specified in the advisory, organizations worldwide use WMS to control thousands of remote endpoints.
According to the Dell security advisory, “Dell Wyse Management Suite (WMS) remediation is available for multiple vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malicious users to compromise the affected system.” A successful attack on a central management console puts entire endpoint fleets at risk. Currently, no public proof-of-concept exists, and no active exploitation in the wild has been confirmed.
How the Attack Works
All four vulnerabilities exist within proprietary code and stem from improper input neutralization during web page generation. Consequently, attackers with low privileges can inject arbitrary scripts into the management interface.
Remote XSS Flaws: CVE-2026-82158, CVE-2026-82159, and CVE-2026-82161
First, CVE-2026-82158 is the most severe flaw, carrying a critical CVSS base score of 9.0. For this bug and the others, Dell notes that “Dell Wyse Management Suite, versions prior to 2609.0.0.155, contain an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (‘Cross-site Scripting’) vulnerability.” Furthermore, the vendor states that “A low privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Script injection.” Because CVE-2026-82158 includes a changed scope and requires user interaction, an exploit can impact resources beyond the vulnerable component itself.
Next, CVE-2026-82159 carries a high CVSS score of 8.8. Unlike the primary flaw, a remote attacker can trigger CVE-2026-82159 without any user interaction. Similarly, CVE-2026-82161 allows remote script injection when a user interacts with a malicious payload, earning a 6.8 CVSS score.
Local XSS Flaw: CVE-2026-82160
Finally, CVE-2026-82160 is a low-severity flaw with a 3.3 CVSS score. Instead of network access, Dell explains that “A low privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Script injection.” This attack does not require user interaction, though it only results in limited confidentiality impacts.
Affected Versions
All four vulnerabilities affect Dell Wyse Management Suite versions prior to 2609.0.0.155. Version 2609.0.0.155 and later releases are not affected.
Patch and Mitigation Steps
Dell resolved these vulnerabilities in Dell Wyse Management Suite version 2609.0.0.155, which became available on September 28, 2026. System administrators should download and install version 2609.0.0.155 or later directly from the Dell support portal. In addition, security teams should restrict network and local console access to trusted personnel.
