An email notifications from domain registrars NameCheap informs customers that beginning October 6, 2025, the registration, transfer, and renewal prices for approximately 231 domain extensions will increase. Users are advised to register or renew in advance to avoid being affected by the price hike.
All of these domains fall under the registry Identity Digital, with the steepest price increases affecting extensions such as .NEWS, .LIVE, .LIFE, .WORLD, .TODAY, .EMAIL, .MEDIA, .BIO, .IRISH, .BET, and .NETWORK.
Here are the top domains affected:
| Domain | Registration/Transfer | Renewal/Reactivate |
| .live | $34.48 | $39.48 |
| .life | $38.48 | $46.48 |
| .digital | $43.98 | $53.98 |
| .world | $43.98 | $52.98 |
| .today | $29.98 | $38.98 |
| .news | $34.48 | $41.48 |
| $32.98 | $40.98 | |
| .bet | $26.98 | $35.98 |
| .network | $36.98 | $46.98 |
| .agency | $32.48 | $41.98 |
| .bio | $76.98 | $84.98 |
| .media | $47.98 | $58.98 |
| .irish | $22.98 | $31.98 |
If you own any of these domains, it may be wise to extend your renewals for several years to save on future costs. Exact before-and-after pricing can be checked directly on your registrar’s website or by contacting customer support.
Recently, the .XYZ registry also raised its prices, suggesting that such adjustments are becoming increasingly frequent. Logically, one would expect domain prices to decline as overall demand falls. Yet, it may be that registrars are raising fees precisely because registrations are slowing, effectively squeezing more revenue from existing customers.
