In iOS 26, Apple continues to strengthen its child safety features. A newly introduced function automatically displays a full-screen warning during FaceTime video calls if the system detects sensitve contents. This warning obscures the video feed and prompts the user to consider ending the call.
The alert reads: “Audio and video have been paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call. ” Two options are presented: resume audio and video or end call.
Interestingly, this feature appears to apply even to adults, activating regardless of whether child safety settings are enabled. Developer iDeviceHelp encountered such a scenario and shared screenshots of the behavior. It remains unclear whether this is an intentional design choice by Apple or a bug in the current beta version of iOS 26.

While such warnings are entirely appropriate when child safety features are active, Apple typically refrains from interfering with adult content under normal circumstances—suggesting that this may be an unintended behavior in the beta release.
The communication safety suite also includes automatic blurring of sensitve images in shared albums to prevent immediate exposure to inappropriate visuals. Shared albums consist of collections sent via links from others, and unexpected explicit content could be disruptive.
All of these features are processed locally on the device. Apple previously explained that Communication Safety leverages on-device machine learning to analyze photos and video attachments for sensitve contents. Since the analysis is entirely local, no media is uploaded to Apple’s servers.
This same principle is likely applied to FaceTime, where Apple appears to scan video frames in real time. Upon detecting sensitve contents, the system issues a warning, allowing users to decide whether to resume or terminate the call.
