After weeks of leaks and speculation, Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max at its autumn keynote, showcasing a striking new design language.
According to Apple, the iPhone 17 Pro lineup abandons the titanium construction of its predecessor, instead adopting a thermo-forged aluminum alloy unibody, offering a distinctly different aesthetic. Both the front display and the back panel are now reinforced with Ceramic Shield 2 glass, providing superior scratch resistance and complementing the redesigned camera module for greater visual distinction.
The primary differences between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max lie in size, display resolution, and battery performance. The 17 Pro features a 6.3-inch display and supports up to 31 hours of video playback, while the 17 Pro Max retains its 6.9-inch display and extends video playback to 37 hours—or up to 39 hours with eSIM connectivity. With a 40W wired charger, the devices can reach 50% capacity in just 20 minutes, while 30W MagSafe wireless charging delivers the same result in approximately 30 minutes.
Both models are available in blue, silver, and orange finishes, powered by the A19 Pro chip, and stabilized with an integrated VC cooling module for sustained performance. The iPhone 17 Pro Max further expands storage options with a 2TB variant, while the iPhone 17 Pro tops out at 1TB.
The camera system has undergone a significant overhaul, with all three lenses upgraded to 48MP. The telephoto lens offers native 4x optical zoom, enabling up to 8x lossless telephoto capture. Supported focal lengths now include macro, 13mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 48mm, 100mm, and 200mm. Beyond existing features such as Dolby Vision HDR, 4K120p, and ProRes Log, Apple has added support for the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), ProRes RAW, and Genlock synchronization, positioning the iPhone 17 Pro series as a serious tool for professional filmmaking.
The front-facing camera has also been upgraded to an 18MP square-format sensor (1:1 aspect ratio), allowing seamless capture in both vertical and horizontal orientations. With Center Stage support, the system ensures that individuals or groups remain centered in the frame—ideal for selfies, group shots, or live streaming.
Preorders for the iPhone 17 Pro series begin today, with official sales starting September 19. Pricing begins at $1,099 USD for the iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 USD for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Apple also introduced new TechWoven cases, designed with sustainability in mind, alongside clear cases, silicone options, and strap accessories.
