At Connect 2025, Meta officially unveiled its first smart glasses with a built-in display β the Ray-Ban Display β confirming that the device will launch in the United States on September 30 at a retail price of $799. The rollout will begin through physical outlets including Best Buy, LensCrafters, Ray-Ban boutiques, and Verizon, with global expansion planned for early 2026 to markets such as Canada, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
The Ray-Ban Display features a βhigh-resolutionβ heads-up display (HUD) and a water-resistant design. It will be released alongside the refreshed second generation of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses and the sport-oriented Oakley Meta Vanguard, together forming Metaβs 2025 smart eyewear lineup and further strengthening its strategy in the wearables and AR ecosystem.
In terms of design, the new model stays true to the classic Ray-Ban sunglasses aesthetic, retaining the built-in camera, microphone, and speakers. Its defining feature is the semi-transparent HUD embedded in the right lens, capable of displaying notifications, reminders, app content, and even video calls in real time.
Interaction is enabled through gesture control: users can swipe a finger to compose replies, or pair the glasses with the Meta Neural Band EMG wristband, a water-resistant accessory included with every unit. This band interprets electromyographic signals to recognize subtle hand movements and translate them into precise commands.
Functionality spans photo capture, live subtitles, Spotify playback, first-person livestreaming, and calendar integration, with quick responses possible via voice, emojis, or pre-set short phrases.
In addition, the Ray-Ban Display inherits the capabilities of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, including real-time translation, conversation focus, and the newly introduced Live AI feature, which enables continuous interaction with Meta AI.
