The Windows 11 lock screen currently allows users to add widgets such as weather, traffic, and financial updates, providing quick access to essential information. However, it lacks customization options, meaning all supported widgets are added to the lock screen rather than allowing users to select specific ones.
To address this limitation, Microsoft has begun refining the feature in the Windows 11 Beta version. In the latest Windows 11 Beta Build 22635.4870, a hidden feature introduces customizable lock screen widgets.
Tech enthusiast @PhantomOfEarth discovered that once this hidden functionality is enabled, users can curate their lock screen widgets—adding only those they prefer while removing unnecessary ones. As this feature remains in testing, it is currently unavailable in the stable version. However, if you are using the Windows 11 Beta, you can enable it by following these steps:
How to Enable Custom Lock Screen Widgets
- Download and review the usage guide for ViveTool
- Enable the following feature IDs using ViveTool:
vivetool /enable /id:50179255,53672489
- Restart your system once the command executes successfully.
- Navigate to Settings → Personalization → Lock Screen, then click Widgets → Add Widgets to select only the ones you prefer.
- If you do not wish to display widgets on the lock screen, you can simply disable the widget option.
With this enhancement, users gain greater control over their lock screen experience, ensuring only the most relevant information is displayed.
