Revamped "Start" Menu Interface
Microsoft releases one to two preview updates each month, categorized as C and D updates, in contrast to the monthly B-class updates that are considered official. These preview updates are intended for testing purposes and are typically only installed when users manually check for updates or opt into receiving them immediately.
Under normal circumstances, we do not recommend installing these preview builds, as their experimental nature may introduce unforeseen issues. For instance, the preview update released in June caused problems with the Windows 11 firewall.
The issue affected version 24H2 of Windows 11. After applying the June preview update, the system’s Event Viewer began displaying multiple firewall-related error entries, indicating a failure to read configurations and the availability of additional data.
However, this error does not appear to impact the system’s functionality. According to Microsoft, the issue stems from a feature still under development and not yet fully implemented. While the firewall remains operational, the Event Viewer may log misleading error messages.
Microsoft advises users to disregard these errors and continue using the system as usual. The company is expected to resolve the issue in the July update. Fortunately, the glitch has no practical consequences; otherwise, it could have posed a significant inconvenience for users experimenting with preview builds.
An additional concern is why code related to an in-progress feature surfaced in the preview version of Windows 11 24H2. Typically, such code should reside within Windows Insider builds. It remains unclear what feature Microsoft is developing that would impact the production update channel in this manner.
