YouTube’s newly designed Polymer framework brings many improvements to the video sharing platform, and it also brings new controversy in the browser field. Mozilla’s technical director, Chris Peterson, posted a tweet to slam Google, saying that the technology that the Polymer framework relies on is only available on Google Chrome and slows down on Firefox and Edge.
Peterson said: “YouTube page load is 5x slower in Firefox and Edge than in Chrome because YouTube’s Polymer redesign relies on the deprecated Shadow DOM v0 API only implemented in Chrome.”
