In May 2025, Google introduced a one-year Google AI Pro subscription package for university students across the United States. Although the regular subscription price is quite high, students who verify their status through an official campus email address can obtain a full year of access entirely free, including 2 TB of Google Drive storage and additional perks.
The subscription also grants access to services such as Google Gemini 3 Pro, Deep Research, NotebookLM, Flow, Jules, and more—part of Google’s strategy to draw students into the company’s AI ecosystem.
Today, Google announced that the free subscription will be extended for an additional year. In other words, students who activated the offer in May will now retain access until May 2027—and it would not be surprising if Google extends it even further when the time comes.
In the early days, some users managed to obtain Google AI Pro by purchasing student email accounts. However, Google later began requiring supplementary identity verification rather than relying solely on an .edu address, and has since taken steps to combat fraudulent access.
Therefore, anyone who obtained the subscription through unconventional means must be prepared to provide additional verification documents. If the verification is ultimately approved, these users will be able to continue enjoying more than another year of free access—an undeniably substantial benefit.
A final note: eligible actual U.S. students who have not yet claimed this offer may still do so until January 30, 2026. However, an email address alone is no longer sufficient—SheerID verification of active enrollment is now required.
