Google recently announced that its brand-new laptop product line, Googlebook, will begin pre-orders on September 21, 2026. Googlebook is a new laptop series Google has unveiled for the artificial intelligence era. Its operating system fuses Android, ChromeOS, and Gemini AI, with an emphasis on AI services that help users work more efficiently. Google details the lineup on its official Googlebook website.
Googlebook is a brand name, and Google does not manufacture the laptops itself. Ultimately, these machines are designed by OEMs such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and HP, and sales, along with after-sales service, naturally rest with these OEMs as well.
Running a Fused Android System
Googlebook will not continue using the ChromeOS system. Instead, Google has merged Android with ChromeOS to launch an entirely new desktop version of the operating system. ChromeOS itself, of course, chiefly runs web applications, so installing standalone apps truly relies on the Android system. Consequently, developers in the future will still need to adapt Android apps to the laptop operating experience.
The Googlebook ecosystem will combine Android’s Google Play, ChromeOS’s browser experience and desktop capabilities, and deep integration with Gemini AI services. Ultimately, this lets users conveniently boost productivity on a desktop platform through the Android system, Android apps, and Google’s AI services.
Positioned as a Flagship, So the Price May Run High
It bears special mention that Chromebooks chiefly target education users and therefore carry entry-level hardware configurations. Googlebook, however, is positioned as a flagship device, so its final price may not come cheap. Naturally, its actual hardware configuration may also be higher, though the specific specifications remain unknown for now.
One further point deserves note: Gemini AI services have not launched in every region worldwide. If a user operates a Googlebook in an unsupported region, they may be unable to use Gemini services. This is a point to bear in mind with particular care.
