Microsoft recently announced via its official X account that it will unveil the new “Copilot+ PC” on May 6, U.S. local time, teasing the launch of a new Surface device.
Unlike last year, when Microsoft revealed its “Copilot+ PC” lineup in collaboration with Qualcomm during Build 2024, this year’s announcement appears to come slightly earlier. In addition to debuting the latest Surface model, Microsoft will also introduce new “Copilot+ PC” models developed by partner brands.
Compared to last year’s releases—the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6—Microsoft is now expected to launch a new Surface device with a screen size ranging from 11 to 12 inches, positioning it as a direct competitor to Apple’s iPad Pro.
As for the processor, the device will likely feature a Qualcomm chip tailored to the “Copilot+ PC” design requirements. It is expected to be powered by either the Snapdragon X Elite, the more entry-level Snapdragon X Plus, or a Snapdragon X variant with a reduced number of cores.
Qualcomm, for its part, is anticipated to deepen its collaboration with Microsoft, aiming to further expand its Windows on Snapdragon ecosystem. However, concrete details will depend on Microsoft’s official announcement.
