A New Mobile Device Entry in Quick Settings
Microsoft is testing a new mobile device entry in Windows 11 Quick Settings on experimental builds. After users connect and pair an Android phone, they can control it straight from the Quick Settings panel.
From there, they can toggle Do Not Disturb and adjust the phone’s volume. They can also make the Android device play a sound, which helps when the phone goes missing. The feature is still in testing and is not yet available to regular users. Windows Latest spotted the change.
Phone Controls Move Into Quick Settings
Users open the Windows 11 Quick Settings panel with the Win+A shortcut. There, they will see the mobile device entry. After pairing, it shows the name of the connected phone. It then offers controls for Do Not Disturb, volume, and playing a sound.
Ring a Misplaced Phone
The play sound option mainly helps users find a phone they cannot locate. Windows 11 uses the existing device link to make the phone ring. Users do not need to open the Phone Link app first.
Overall, this is not a brand-new remote control feature. Instead, Microsoft is moving some existing Phone Link functions into a system-level shortcut.
Microsoft Keeps Pushing Cross-Device Integration
In recent years, Microsoft has added many features for Android phones paired with Windows 11. For example, users can view phone notifications, text messages, photos, and calls on their PC. They can also use some app functions.
In addition, Microsoft is testing file transfer for Android devices, remote PC locking, and phone screen mirroring.
Not Every Android Phone Qualifies
However, not every Android device gets every feature after pairing. Some features work only on certain Android models. Therefore, users must pair their phone with Windows 11 to see which functions they can actually use.
