During MWC 2025, Opera unveiled Browser Operator, an AI-powered agent designed to assist users in performing specific tasks across various web pages within its browser.
In Opera’s demonstration, users leveraged this AI-driven assistant to seamlessly locate suitable socks on Walmart’s online store, purchase football match tickets through a club’s official website, and even find optimal flights and accommodations via Booking.com.
This feature is set to be rolled out to all users in the near future through Opera’s Feature Drop program. The company emphasized that Browser Operator operates entirely on-device, ensuring that user interactions remain private. Unlike cloud-based AI solutions that transmit query data for remote processing before returning results, Opera’s AI agent functions locally, eliminating concerns over data privacy and security.
Beyond Opera, other industry players are also advancing AI-driven browsing capabilities. OpenAI has introduced Operator, an AI agent available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers, powered by the GPT-4o model. This system integrates visual analysis with reinforcement learning-based reasoning, allowing it to break down complex tasks into multiple sequential steps while dynamically adjusting its execution based on real-time conditions.
Similarly, Perplexity.ai has launched Comet, an innovative web browser that seamlessly integrates AI agent services, further underscoring the growing trend of AI-enhanced browsing experiences.
