Perplexity AI, which had previously been developing and testing its AI-powered Comet browser, has now officially launched the browser for its Perplexity Max subscribers—users who pay a monthly subscription fee of $200 to access this advanced offering.
The defining feature of the Comet browser lies in its deep integration of artificial intelligence and a variety of AI agents. These capabilities include interacting through natural language dialogue, surfacing unanswered emails, allowing users to upload their own images, and leveraging AI agents to assist with tasks such as shopping—automating operations that would otherwise require manual effort.
The browser also offers functionalities like scheduling meetings, sending emails, and delivering daily briefings, effectively unifying a range of previously disparate AI tasks into a single streamlined platform. The overarching goal is to optimize workflows and drive as much automation as possible within the browsing experience.
Built on the Chromium engine, the Comet browser ensures seamless compatibility with modern web standards. It is currently available for both macOS and Windows platforms, and existing Perplexity Max subscribers can download it immediately to explore its capabilities.
While access is currently exclusive to Max subscribers, users interested in trying the browser can join a waiting list. Although no official timeline has been announced for broader availability, it is anticipated that Perplexity Pro subscribers—who pay $20 per month—may gain access in the future.
