Google has announced the integration of a new AI-powered feature into the desktop version of its Chrome browser, enabling online store pages to automatically display AI-generated review summaries. This enhancement aims to help users swiftly assess a retailer’s credibility and potential shopping risks, thereby fostering greater confidence in online purchases.
Currently available only in the United States and in English, the feature allows users to click the store icon located to the left of the address bar to access an AI-generated summary. This summary encompasses key aspects such as the store’s overall reputation, product quality, pricing fairness, customer service, and return policies.
The summaries are crafted by analyzing user reviews from multiple third-party rating platforms—including Reputation.com, Reseller Ratings, ScamAdviser, and Trustpilot—allowing AI to distill complex feedback into clear, concise insights that empower safer shopping decisions.
This capability is expected to elevate the online shopping experience within Chrome and reflects Google’s broader ambition to integrate AI technologies into e-commerce. Previously, Google introduced features such as AI-powered virtual try-ons, intelligent product recommendations, and smart price tracking—all part of its initiative to build a more intelligent search and shopping ecosystem.
While the review summary feature is not yet available on mobile devices, Google has stated that it will consider expanding support to additional platforms and languages based on user feedback, positioning itself to compete more effectively with companies like Amazon in the AI-enhanced online retail space.
