At Google I/O 2025, the company unveiled Flow, a groundbreaking AI-powered video creation tool, alongside Veo 3—which can simultaneously generate both video and audio content—and Imagen 4, an advanced image generation model.
Flow is fundamentally an AI-driven filmmaking platform, seamlessly integrating Google’s Gemini technology. It can even incorporate content generated through Imagen for visuals and Veo for video, offering a cohesive creative ecosystem.
Users can craft cinematic sequences simply by inputting text descriptions. Flow then transforms these prompts into storyboarded scenes and dynamic motion pictures. The platform allows for extending video length, fine-tuning details, and consistently delivers visuals of remarkable clarity and lifelike quality.
In collaboration with numerous filmmakers, Google is actively refining Flow’s capabilities. Initially, Flow will be available in the U.S. to subscribers of plans like Google AI Pro, with expansion to other regions planned in the near future.
Veo 3, also announced at the event, introduces audio generation capabilities, emphasizing that the generated soundscapes are contextually aligned with real-world environments. Like Flow, Veo 3 will first be offered to U.S.-based Google AI Pro subscribers and will also be accessible via Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform.
Imagen 4, the upgraded image generation tool, boasts enhanced detail fidelity and the ability to render images at resolutions up to 2K.
To mitigate the risks associated with the proliferation of AI-generated content, Google has embedded SynthID digital watermarks into outputs from its AI tools. Additionally, it is providing open-source resources to detect SynthID, enabling users to verify whether an image was created using artificial intelligence.
