Telegram has recently rolled out its first update of 2026. This release primarily targets the iOS version of the app, while the Android edition remains under development, meaning users will need to wait for a future update to access new features, including AI-powered summaries.
The centerpiece of this update is the AI summary feature designed for lengthy channel posts. When a subscribed channel publishes particularly long content, Telegram automatically generates a concise AI-generated summary at the top of the post, allowing users to grasp the key points at a glance. Tapping the summary reveals the full original text.
The AI summary feature is powered by an open-source model hosted on the decentralized Cocoon network. This platform is designed with a strong emphasis on user privacy: every request is securely encrypted before transmission, significantly reducing the risk of potential data leakage. In addition, the new version of Telegram for iOS now fully supports Apple’s Liquid Glass visual effects. The entire app adopts transparent elements and elegant light refraction, while users can fine-tune these effects in the settings and power-saving options to strike a balance between visual appeal and battery consumption.
The official blog does not specify whether the Windows version will receive similar functionality or when such features might be introduced. However, given Telegram’s general approach to feature parity across platforms, it is reasonable to expect that AI summaries will eventually be made available on Windows as well.
