“Voice-First” Revolution: Apple Integrates Uber, Amazon, & YouTube with App Intents Framework

Bloomberg reports that Apple is testing an upgraded version of its App Intents framework, aiming to deepen Siri’s integration with a range of major apps—including Uber, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, and WhatsApp—pushing the voice assistant further toward a truly “voice-first” interaction experience.
App Intents, unveiled at Apple’s WWDC 2025, is a new development tool designed to enhance the interplay between apps, the operating system, and Siri. The updated framework introduces features such as interactive snippets, Visual Intelligence integration, and tighter connections between Shortcuts and Spotlight, enabling more natural, responsive interactions across applications.
Apple is reportedly collaborating with leading app developers to test voice-controlled functions such as booking rides on Uber, shopping on Amazon, searching videos on YouTube, and sending messages via WhatsApp—significantly reducing the need for touch-based input and making interactions smoother. If fully realized, this could become one of Siri’s most powerful and practical capabilities to date.
If the trials succeed, Siri could evolve from a tool requiring precise commands and manual input into a more proactive, context-aware voice assistant capable of understanding conversational nuance. This shift would not only make user interactions more intuitive but also strengthen Siri’s competitive edge against digital assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa.
However, the widespread adoption of this feature will depend on the extent to which developers embrace App Intents and on Apple’s ability to guide major service providers in creating compatible voice-driven workflows. Should the user experience for popular apps like Uber and YouTube improve dramatically, it could spur a wave of developer participation.
