For many years, Apple refrained from offering a web version of the Apple App Store—though that statement is only partly true. While each app has long had its own dedicated description page, there was no centralized storefront homepage for users to explore and discover new applications.
Now, Apple has unveiled a revamped web-based App Store, the key addition being a fully featured homepage. This new interface includes platform-specific toggle buttons, allowing users to switch between iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS to view trending or Apple-recommended apps for each platform. It also introduces a “Today” section, highlighting curated selections of apps, games, and thematic categories—mirroring the editorial style of the App Store across Apple’s devices.
Another notable improvement is the addition of a search function to the web version. Users can now directly look up specific applications, view detailed search results, and access screenshots, descriptions, and related information through an elegant, App Store-like layout that feels even more user-friendly on the web.
The site also allows for easy sharing of app and game links with others. If users are signed in with their Apple ID, they can instantly see whether an app is already installed on their device and, if so, open it directly—such as from a browser on iOS.
It remains unclear why Apple has suddenly chosen to introduce a full web-based App Store homepage after so many years without one. Perhaps the company hopes that this redesigned interface will boost app and game discovery, ultimately driving higher engagement and download volumes across its ecosystem.
