Roland Quandt recently shared insights on the Bluesky platform, suggesting that the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 will be Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone to date. Its sleeker sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip7—already seen in leaked hands-on footage—also embraces a refined, lightweight design.
According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold7 boasts an impressively slim profile, measuring just 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when closed. This marks a significant reduction in thickness compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold6. The device’s weight has also been trimmed down to 216 grams, addressing the long-standing criticism of foldable phones being bulky and heavy. Samsung aims to deliver a hand-feel that rivals traditional smartphones, thereby redefining perceptions and dismantling the stereotype of foldables being unwieldy.
Under the hood, the Fold7 is equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.5-inch cover display, an expansive 8-inch main display, and a 4400mAh battery.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung has expanded its external screen from the previous 3.4 inches (seen on the Galaxy Z Flip6) to 4.1 inches using a punch-hole design, enabling richer notification previews and more interactive widgets. Despite a 70% reduction in thickness compared to its predecessor, the Flip7 features an upgraded battery, which is expected to deliver enhanced endurance.
This year, Samsung’s foldable lineup clearly centers around two major pillars: ultra-thin form factors and next-gen AI enhancements. Users can anticipate deeper integration with Google’s Gemini AI platform. However, Samsung previously disclosed that the Galaxy AI features introduced with the Galaxy S25 series would only be free for six months, hinting that future access may require a subscription or alternative monetization model—details of which are yet to be revealed.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 will officially debut on July 9. In addition to these two headline models, Samsung is also rumored to unveil an even more premium variant, the Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, although no concrete specifications have emerged thus far.
Moreover, long-standing whispers surrounding a tri-fold device—tentatively dubbed the “Galaxy G Fold”—may finally materialize at this launch event, potentially serving as the grand finale. However, its actual market release may not occur until the end of the year or later.
Samsung is also expected to refresh its wearable lineup, possibly including the introduction of the Galaxy Watch8 series and other next-generation accessories.
